Put your hands together for the latest superstar who’s supporting this publication by becoming a paid subscriber. All hail
! Hurray!![Btw, I’ve been plotting some of the forthcoming awesomeness that I’ll be sharing with paid subscribers, and will tell you more about that post haste. By which I mean soon.]
Alrighty. Let’s begin!
Because I’m not a fan of fake instagram-style perfection BS, I wish to offer a clarification.
See how the adorable story I just told you makes it look like I had one easy realisation that instantly and dramatically improved my relationship with myself and my body forever more? Yeah, it wasn’t quite like that.
Transforming my old tendency towards trying to grow via self-criticism took lots of time, effort and conscious attention. But that’s hard to squeeze into a couple of cartoon panels (it may one day become a book. We shall see).
The truth is, I hit my head against many metaphorical brick walls and experienced plenty of metaphorical concussions on my way to self-love and self-acceptance.
But I really am there now, and it’s about a trijillion times better than trying to whip myself into shape.
If that’s something you’d like support with, I created a free mini-course (as in genuinely free, coz I want everyone in the world who wants to make that transition to avoid all the unnecessary metaphorical concussions).
You can access the Free Return to Wholeness mini-course by clicking here.
I’m now going to steal a fabulous idea from a couple of Substacks I admire
and . I'm gonna ask you some questions! Why? Because I think of us as a community and I don't want our exchanges to be one-sided. Which means I'd love it if you'd talk/write back!If you already have something you wanna say or share in response to today’s post, here is the handy little comment button!
If you prefer to respond to questions, no problem! Here are a handful:
What was your favourite drawing this week?
What’s your relationship with your body like now? In the past?
Watching anything good lately? I just finished Wednesday and loved it!
Recommend any good books? I recently listened to ‘We Were Witches’ and loved it.
Got any questions for me? Or anything you’d like me to draw/write about?
Thanks for being here. You rock.
One of my favorite poems that I wrote deals with the loss of self esteem from self criticism:
"AT THIS TIME"
My self esteem was lost, but I win
By not listening to self criticism.
I then speak to myself,
To remind myself to remind my mind,
"The past isn't present at this time."
Taking me outside of me,
To where gratitude and humility,
Reside inside of me,
The present is presented at this time.
Medha, I just LOVE your new blogs & comics soooooooooo very very very very much. SO MUCH! (am I making myself clear?) Favorite panel? Many contenders but the prize goes to you as a dinosaur with tiny & impractical arms. BWAHHHAHAHAHA!
