Becoming the channel

On a random Wednesday in September 2019, I lay on a table ready for a delicious massage, when — out of nowhere — my head started feeling weirdly spacious. Kinda … unlimited?

I sensed that — somehow — I could answer any question about the nature of life and the Universe. Which felt simultaneously ‘Ooohhhhh’ + also ‘WTAF?!’

As my friend Cara prepared to start my massage, I said

Cara immediately and asked

I sensed that I needed to find a way of speaking that was different from anything I’d ever known.

Having NO IDEA how in the living fuck I was going to do any/all of that, I took a deep breath, opened my mouth, and

I heard myself saying:

The more you buy into this model, the more it self-perpetuates.

OK, so Oron only swear when they’re quoting me, so this is more my jokey interpretation than an actual quote from them

Ultimately,

And that’s how I met Oron!

Oron won’t go into much detail about who they are, because they consider it a distraction. I call them ‘they’ because they are a collective of energy. Different amounts and qualities of energy come through at different times, depending on what’s needed in the moment. Which means every time they come through, they feel kinda the same, but also kinda different.

In case you haven’t already met them, allow me to introduce you to my good mates (coz they’re plural) - Oron!

If me saying I can alter my state of consciousness to connect to a wiser/higher energy and speak for it is a little too weird for you, that’s ok. I know it’s not for everyone. But for the people that this is for, it can be massively helpful and wildly transformative. I will be sharing more freely about it here on Great Things, but please know that I have no intention of proving or convincing you of anything.

If this whole channeling thing is new to you, but you’re in the spectrum of ‘open’ or ‘interested’, then yay! I’d love to help demystify the whole channeling thing. Coz honestly, it’s way less esoteric and spooky than it sounds. We all do various forms of it every day - it’s just that we don’t think of it as ‘channeling’. We might call it ‘inspiration’. Or ‘a gut feeling’.

And if you’re already familiar with channeling, then also yay!

In my last post I promised I’d share myself channeling some Oron magic about this very Substack. That video is below.

But before we go there, here’s a little context:

• It’s easier for me to channel when someone asks me questions, so the video is of me playing with a friend, who is also a channel. I told her what to ask me before I went into channel mode and then I did the same for her.

• When I’m in channel, my eyes are closed and my body moves in weird ways. If I try to stop the moment, it reduces the flow of the energy and wisdom coming through. I’d rather look weird than lose any magic, so enjoy my unrestrained flailing (you’re welcome).

• The ‘sadness’ Oron reference about 47 seconds in is addressing the fact that caring for dad (if you’re new here, my dad is dying from brain cancer) limits the time and energy I have to draw and write, and I miss it.

• Having just relistened to the video before posting it here, I see that — as usual — the ‘personal’ advice Oron give me are actually lessons for life and relevant to everyone (delivered through the filter of me, my life and this Substack).

• If I’d known I’d end up sharing this with you, I would have brushed my hair!
